Frequently Asked Questions
Support and registration
What should I do for support?
When you ask for support, we would like to have as much information as possible, because this will help us to solve the problem. The information will be treated confidentially. The following information is needed:
Direct your questions to the e-mail address
firstname.lastname@example.org. Do not use the address of one of the developers. Please add your e-mail address and telephone number, so that we can contact you if necessary.
- Information about your hardware and system set-up. If you have problems with the user interface, information about the Windows version is needed.
- If you have questions about a DROPLET project or runs within a DROPLET project, we need at least the Summary.out file, which is by default located at C:\Program Files\Alterra\DROPLET\projects\projectname. The Summary.out file can be generated in de DROPLET-GUI. It may be helpful to send the CompoundProperties.inp, CropArea.inp and CropPEC.inp files (located at the same directory) and the database DROPLET.mdb, located at C:\Program Files\Alterra\DROPLET\Data.
- If an error message is shown on the screen, then a precise description of this message is needed. The error message helps us to identify the problem.
Where can I get SWASH and TOXSWA, the models needed before being able to run DROPLET?
There is only one place where you can get the FOCUS_SWASH and FOCUS_TOXSWA models, i.e. the FOCUS website http://viso.ei.jrc.it/focus/sw. This site is maintained by the EU Joint Research Centre at Ispra (Italy). From this site you can obtain the approved versions of FOCUS simulation models. These models contain the FOCUS scenarios that are used to calculate the concentrations of plant protection products in surface water in the EU review process according to Council Directive 91/414/EEC. By copying a SWASH project in TOXSWA you obtain a false SWASH project in which you are able to add spray drift deposition according to the Dutch Drift Table.
Can DROPLET be used on Windows Vista?
Yes, we tested that DROPLET runs on Windows Vista (see read-me file in download package)
